TERRY SPRINGS: REVIVING EXCELLENCE IN EVERY SPRING
Call us on 01527 514300 to find out more
Compression springs are highly versatile mechanical components with the capacity to store energy when subjected to a compressive force. They come in a multitude of shapes and sizes, making them ideal for a wide range of applications across various industries. In addition, the customisation options for compression springs, including grinding the ends for added stability and improved contact area, enhance their utility and adaptability.
The adaptability of compression springs is evident in their ability to be manufactured in numerous shapes and sizes. From small, tightly coiled springs to large, open-wound ones, compression springs can be tailored to fit the specific requirements of diverse applications. This ability to customise their size and shape ensures that they can efficiently provide the necessary force and return to their original form when the compressive load is released.
Diameter
Give the inside, outside or mean diameter. Be sure to mention if spring works in a hole, tube, cylinder or socket and give size of this also. If spring works over rod or shaft, mention this fact and give size of rod or shaft. If spring works in a hole and over a rod, then be certain to specify both dimensions so that the spring can be made to work correctly.
Length
Give length of spring when free or unloaded. If spring is fitted under compression, please give fitted length and load.
Size and Shape of Material
Specify if spring is to be made of round, square or rectangular section material and give size of material in fractional or decimal parts of an inch/ millimetre. If the spring has to give a certain load at a certain compression and for this reason the size of the material is unknown, we would refer you to the technical data section, where you will see the method of obtaining this information. In every case we strongly advise you to furnish us with full details (loads, etc.) so that we may check the specification of the spring to ensure the design is absolutely suitable for its purpose.
Material
State if steel, brass or phosphor bronze, springs can be made from the regular carbon steels and from chrome vanadium, silico-maganese and other alloy steels.
Style of Ends
Specify if springs are to have (1) Plain ends, not ground; (2) Plain ends, ground; (3) Squared and closed ends, not ground; (4) Squared and Closed ends, ground. When the style of the ends is not specified we supply springs with squared and closed ends, ground. Special ends can also be supplied. Please send sketch showing requirements.
